This week was our last week of classes. This week was alos a work week for our final projects. At first I did not like my ebook. I thought it was confusing to use. The text boxes were very frustrating. But after I began to really get into my project I got the hang of it. Once I understood what I was doing I found the project to be enjoyable. My ebook is now complete and I put a Christmas theme in my table of contents which made me happy .

This week we started our final project. Our assignment is to make an ebook on the website myebook. It is supposed to be basically a comprehensive summary of the class. We are supposed to take each assignment and explain how it fits the standard we think it does and what exactly the assignment was. I like this project a lot more than taking a final exam plus a project. I feel this project is a much better choice because it helps us really understand what we did in this class, unlike test questions which just test our memory. My ebook is not very far a long, but so far I enjoy the program.

This week was a work week to finish our module 3 projects and no new material was introduced. My group completed our project last week so we did not attend class this week. With no new material to discuss I am not quite sure what to write about. How about Christmas? It is almost the Christmas season and I have found useful sites on the interent to help with my shopping. Everyone knows black friday is the best day to get good deals on the things you want to buy. I found a site that has hundreds of stores and all of the stores black friday specials are listed. This saved me from having to go to each stores individual websites. Here is the site http://www.black-friday.net

This week was a work week to finish up our module 3 assignments. We decided to use mixbook for our project. We each made our pages about the specific type of shoe we picked. Mine was sneakers. I tried to make my pages more earthy because many people tend to wear their sneakers for outdoor activities. When I looked at our mixbook after we all did our part I thought it looked really nice. The collaborative tools that we learned in class really helped make this project easy. We used etherpad to communicate. Mixbook also allowed us to each complete our pages at our own convenience. Here is a picture of a really big turkey in honor of Thanksgiving.

This week we continued to look at collaborative tools. One site we looked at is ning. This website lets you create your own social networking site. The site can be about anything you want and it is free. An example of a ning is the educational one we looked at class. This is a great alternative to sites like facebook because this site can be used for one specific purpose. My group has decided on a topic and we are making good progress with it. But if we want music in our show then we cannot use commercial music. An alternative to that is garage band. It is a program where you can go in and mix your music from a variety of genres and instruments. I think it is a really fun program and I never really thought of any real purpose for it, until now.

This week we learned about the different kinds of collaborative websites we could use for our group projects. I am not a fan of group projects and I’m not sure my view will be changed by these websites. My group decided to communicate via etherpad. I liked how everybody had their own color when they typed. That way it was easy to determine who is talking. My group has not decided what we are going to do for our project yet. It is hard to pick a topic all of us are interested in. I think we are going to use mixbook when we do decide what our topic is. I thought the site was awesome and innovative. Buying supplies for scrapbooking is very expensive, and this site is completely free to use. You have to buy the actual books, but you can post them online for free.

This week was basically a work week for our module 2 projects. Even though we did not learn anything new I still feel like my skills in this class improved. Making a power point presentation all on my own helped reinforce the new skills we learned. I was surprised how much I remembered and did not have to look up how to do. My favorite new tool I learned is how to make a hyperlink. I always wondered how, but never really tried to figure it out. My power point has a lot of hyperlinks that connect different slides. I think this is a refreshing change from just clicking the next button. This nonlinear way of presenting information I think would hold students attention better because they cannot anticipate what slide will come next.

This week we worked on power point. Power Point has become the “go to” media for anyone giving a presentation or for professors to teach. There is so much more to power point than most people realize. I never thought of making it nonlinear. Any power point I have done has been one slide after another, click after click. Now I know different ways to present information differently than other people doing power point presentations. We also learned about customizing our power points with sounds, effects, animations, pictures, transitions, and word art. My favorite thing to do is play around with all the custom animation effects. On Tuesday we learned about an interesting website called cameroid. It is like the iphoto for mac, but it is for other computers. We used this program to take pictures of ourselves and then uploaded them on to our word documents. Word has a lot more features than I thought. When I write papers on word the only tools I use are those that edit the text. We played around with word art and shapes, and the possibilities you can do with them seem endless. We used our pictures from cameroid to fill one of the shapes on our word document. This all showed me that there are many ways to spice up any word document. The link to cameroid is www.cameroid.com. Today we were introduced to Prezi. It is like new and creative power point. I liked its appearence a lot, but found it a little difficult to use. Here is the link to the prezi I made in class. This week in class we learned how to use inspiration. It is a program that you can use to make concept maps. I haad used this program in my English class before. We used it to plan out the papers we were supposed to write, but I did not think it was very helpful. ut our proffesor did not really do the program justice because she did not explain that the program could be used for much more. You could learn to use it at as presentation tool. Inspiration is an expensive program, but you can get almost the exact same thing online for free. It is called webspiration. It is very similar but some of the differences include that you can’t just copy and paste pictures, you have to get the url or save it to your computer first. We used flickr to find legal pictures to use on our websipartion page. Not all pictures on flickr are legal to use however. They are copy righted and therefore no one lse can use them. But many are just slightly copy righted and allow you to use them. Here is a pretty picture I found.
